How do I Join?

Come along to the club and ask to speak to the Hon. Secretary, or one of the Members. If you like what you see then ask for an application form, fill it in and return it to the Membership Sec., who will advise you further.

Where can I find the club?

Follow the Torquay to Paignton coast road to locate Oldway, at Manor Corner, Paignton.  The club is situated in Bowlers Way, in Oldway Mansions' grounds. Bowlers Way is on the right, about thirty yards inside the grounds.

Who can join?

The club is open to all who join as full or social members.

This is a great game for old and young alike. Many international top players are in the 20 to 30-age bracket. If you start off on the right foot then you could be playing for England. This great game provides lots of opportunities, provided you are prepared to practise!

Another chance to look at the beauty of Oldway Mansions, which is well worth a visit if you’re ever in this neck of the woods

Is the club open all year round?

Not at the moment.

Most indoor bowlers belong to outdoor clubs.

However indoor bowling is regarded by many as a specialist sport and there is growing number of people who have expressed a preference to play all year round.

What are the fees?

Click on the membership link at the top of the page.

Do I need specialist equipment?

Yes. Players wear grey trousers/skirts, white shirts/blouses and white pullovers/cardigans. Shoes are purpose made and either white or brown. You will have to have a set of four bowls. Before you buy the bowls ask to try some practice bowls from your coach. Weights and lines vary. When you decide visit your local sports shops and a number of these will feature in our ‘favourite’ sites. Click on the favourites tab to see them and, if they have a web site, you can even order your equipment by email!

What about coaching?

The club has a coaching scheme and coaching is available for all beginners and those who wish to improve their skills.

Classes are normally held on Saturdays. Practice bowls may be available to allow you to assess the different types of bowls in use. Enquire at the time of joining the club.
